Oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic technique that has shown to have incredible results, both inside and outside the body. It’s a very simple technique where you swish oil in your mouth anywhere from 5-20 minutes. (Sounds like a long time, but you can work your way up.)
Benefits:
Recent studies show that it helps with gingivitis, plaque, and microorganisms that cause bad breath
Helps with bleeding gums
Helps whiten teeth
Helps clear up skin, including rashes
Detoxes the body, which increases energy levels
Kills bad breath
Reduces inflammation
Prevents cavaties
Heals cracked lips
So how do you oil pull? It’s very easy.
Put 1 TBS of oil in your mouth (coconut, sesame, or sunflower oil) Try to use high quality, organic oil for best results.
Swish the oil around your mouth and between your teeth. Start with 5 minutes and try to work your way up to 20 minutes.
Spit the liquid full of bacteria in the garbage. DO NOT spit in the sink as the viscous, contaminated oil can clog the drain.
Rinse your mouth out with salt water for a thorough clean.
Brush your teeth for a clean, fresh mouth feel.
Look in the mirror and smile to show off those bright teeth.
Oil pulling can be done any time of the day, however morning time is best. It’s a great way to clean your mouth when you’ve had oral surgery and cannot properly brush your teeth.
I did it when I had my wisdom teeth pulled, and it did wonders for me. It is recommended to oil pull 3-4x a week consistently to see results.
Now, I would love to hear for you. Have you tried oil pulling? If so, what benefits did you experience?
