Superfood, Energy Boosting Chai

To an Indian, Chai is nostalgic. It’s what I saw my grandparents and parents drink my whole life. As a little girl, my Grandma would let me have sips of it when my Mom wasn’t looking. I’ve modified it to fit my plant based lifestyle and added superfoods that nourish and balance the body. ️This recipe contains adaptogens. They're superfoods that help the body adapt to stress, they work with YOUR body and YOUR biochemical response to create balance.

“Adaptogens help your body handle stress,” says Dr. Brenda Powell, co-medical director of the Center for Integrative and Lifestyle Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic’s Wellness Institute. “They’re meant to bring us back to the middle.”

Instructions: for 1 cup

1. 1/2 cup water in a pot

2. Add 1 tbs loose tea or 1 tea bag

3. Grate 1/2 tbs of ginger

4. Add 1/2 tsp: pumpkin spice powder

5. 1 tsp cardamom powder

6. 1/3 tsp ashwagandha powder

7. 1/3 tsp Reishi Mushroom powder

8. 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder

9. 1/8 tsp black pepper

10. 5 Mint leaves chopped ( optional)

11. Boil all of the above for about 3-4 min

12. Add 3/4 dairy free milk. Organic soy and almond work best.

13. Simmer for about 2 min on low heat

14. Strain, add bulletproof MCT oil. Sweeten with coconut palm sugar or liquid stevia
